Taylor Swift puts rancor aside, smashes all-time American Music Award record

The singer took home five trophies and was named the AMA's Artist of the Decade.

Taylor thanked Carole for showing that her songs "could transcend so many different changes in people's lives".

Swift was also there to cheer on her good friend Selena Gomez, who performed live on TV for the first time in over two years, opening the award show with "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now" as Swift cheered her on from the front row.

"Taylor Swift made history, which is unbelievable to me", Wendy began, nothing that although she's not the biggest "Swifty", she's still a fan of the "Lover" singer.

Taylor Swift took the high road as she won six American Music Awards on Sunday to surpass Michael Jackson's all-time record, avoiding any direct mention of a bitter dispute with her old record company.

Swift, who is set to perform tonight, dominated headlines in the weeks leading up to the show as her feud with her former record label, Big Machine Records (or BMLG), came to a head. "I appreciate her, but Artist of the Decade?"

Fans were treated to a medley of her greatest hits, including "The Man", "Love Story", "I Knew You Were Trouble", "Blank Space", and many more.

In her speech for Artist of the Decade, Swift thanked her fans for allowing her to grow and change over the course of her career. "I got tampons in here, a flask of tequila, some condoms".

Among the grades performances, TVLine readers gave Selena Gomez an average of "C"; Lizzo and Billie Eilish both earned an "A-"; and Taylor Swift's medley and Post Malone/Ozzy Osbourne/Travis Scott each netted an "A".

The 34-year-old singer stunned during the red carpet clad in an all-blue power suit and wearing her luscious hair in long loose waves.

That's basically her telling Big Machine how they lost her as an artist!

"The a year ago of my life has had some of the most incredible times and also some of the hardest things I've gone through", Swift said in the final speech of the night.
