Knife rampage in Paris park leaves at least one dead

French police shot dead a man near Paris after he went on the rampage with a knife in a park, killing one person and wounding two more, a prosecutor says.

Per the Independent, French police have shot and killed a man in a grocery store auto park near Paris, following a knife attack.

Four people are reported to have been stabbed and one person is believed to have been seriously injured.

Ms Beccuau said he had last left hospital in May 2019, and that a month later he stopped taking his medication.

The attacker attempted to stab more people, but they were able to escape.

"We heard screams, then we heard three shots", said Rouane Yazid, 40, the owner of a garage near to where the assailant was shot.

The victims were taken to nearby hospitals, two of them are in serious condition. In this regard, all visitors who were at the Mall, on the Parking lot which police shot and killed the attacker, held in the building to check.

France's Deputy Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, who later visited the scene, praised the police response, calling it an "extremely courageous act".

The attack comes as the French capital has been rocked by major attacks resulting in mass casualties in the past four years.

France has been hard hit by a string of attacks, many by jihadist extremists, since 2015, with more than 250 killed in total. He is said to have converted to Islam in 2017. Police shot and killed him after a two-day manhunt.

It apparently took over a day for the French authorities to attribute a terrorist motive to the stabbing, as the case was referred to the country's anti-terrorism prosecutor late on Saturday.
