Justin Bieber has addressed fans' worries about his increasingly dishevelled appearance - revealing he is battling debilitating Lyme disease.

Justin Bieber will go public with his secret battle with Lyme disease in his upcoming documentary series, according to a report.

"These things will be explained further in a docu-series I'm putting on YouTube shortly", Justin continued.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, roughly 300,000 Americans are diagnosed with Lyme disease each year.

Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States (an insect that transmits a disease is known as a vector).

Getting a Lyme disease diagnosis can be hard, because many of the symptoms overlap with numerous other health conditions such as flu-like symptoms, chronic pain, fatigue or depression.

Hailey also sent kind words to pop star Avril Lavigne, who has been open about contracted the disease since she was diagnosed in 2014.

Justin Bieber announced that he has Lyme disease and chronic mono.

Bieber's 10-part docu-series, Justin Bieber: Seasons, premieres January 27 at 12:00 p.m. on YouTube. "To everyone affected by Lyme, I want to tell you that there is HOPE".

Lyme disease is caused by the Borrelia bacterium.

"So sorry to hear about Justin Bieber having to go through this bad disease", Lavigne tweeted. Lyme disease is in all 50 states in the USA and in EVERY country in the world, except Antarctica. "It's been a tough couple of years ago, but the right treatment will help treat this previously incurable disease, and I'm back and better than ever".

Perhaps the most vocal campaigner trying to raise awareness of Lyme disease is the Dutch former model Yolanda Hadid, who said the illness has left her "often wishing to die of utter hopelessness and exhaustion".

When caught early, most cases of Lyme disease can be treated successfully with a few weeks of antibiotics like doxycycline or amoxicillin.
