Netflix Is Making a 'Witcher' Anime

In a letter to the shareholders, released on Tuesday, Netflix stated that the fantasy series is on track to become its "biggest season 1 TV series ever".

According to multiple reports, the series starring Henry Cavill is turning out to be a huge hit for the streaming service.

Following the successful series debut of The Witcher last December, Netflix has officially announced they are now developing an anime film adaptation of a new Witcher story titled Nightmare of the Wolf which will be produced by the series' executive producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau DeMayo.

This means that 76 million accounts that watched at least two minutes of the show. But having said all that, with Sapkowski's books having seen an increase in popularity after the Netflix show, they may be aware that they need some surprises and have to deviate from the novel in several key ways.

Nonetheless, it creates an apples and oranges state of affairs between The Witcher and former Netflix document holders. And of course, we can't forget the impact of 'Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, ' which has been modded into both The Witcher 3 and Beat Saber.

Within the first four weeks, 76 million viewers watched The Witcher.

Nielsen said Martin Scorsese's The Irishman drew 13.16 million US viewers over its first five days of release, with 17.1 million watching at least part of the three-hour-and-30-minute film. So the numbers are somewhat deceiving in that full episodes were not watched, so it's hard to determine how many people have truly watched The Witcher. Ryan Reynolds action movie 6 Underground was streamed to 83 million homes in the same time frame.

Netflix admits this new way of following yields a much higher figure than its former method.

It is not known whether The Witcher Geralt of Rivia (Cavill) will feature centrally in the film as no other details have been released.

Of its original movies, it says that 80 million watched Sandra Bullock post-apocalypse drama Bird Box, while 73 million are said to have watched Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston comedy Murder Mystery.
