Oscar-winning actress Larson's "Captain Marvel" had a smooth take-off in the superhero universe.
After her dramatic intervention during the epic battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, we always knew that Carol Danvers would return. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck wrote and directed it alongside co-writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
Megan McDonnell, a writer for the Disney+ Marvel series WandaVision is now in negotiations to write Captain Marvel 2, which will be set in the present day, reports the outlet. But Marvel is reportedly looking for a female director for the follow-up. However, they are reportedly in talks to possibly direct a Disney+ series. The movie now has a writer, Megan McDonnell, who worked on the first season of upcoming Disney Plus show WandaVision.
If you didn't see the first film, the story revolves around Carol Danvers as she becomes the vastly powerful Captain Marvel after the Earth is caught at the middle of a galactic conflict in 1995. Almost a dozen features and series are in the works for Disney+, including "Loki" (2021), "Hawkeye" (2021) and "Ms. Marvel", which doesn't yet have a release date.
Making $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office, it was the fifth-highest grossing movie of past year. One is due for release on February 18, 2022, another is down for May 6 (this was later revealed to be Black Panther 2), while the final one is due for November 5.
