Trump praises Barr, attacks prosecutors in Roger Stone case

Stone's friendship with Trump dates back decades.

"The development immediately prompted questions about whether the Justice Department was bending to White House pressure".

But Trump's outrageous comments about the original sentence recommendation - and his history of interfering in the administration of justice - require that the decision be investigated.

Comey dripped components of his classified memoranda hallowing discussions he had with President Trump in order to trigger an unique advice.

The prosecutors demanded that Stone be sentenced to nine years in prison to which the Justice Department had agreed, only to shift decisions in a court filing to cut Stone's sentence to three to four years.

Judge Andrew Napolitano said on Thursday that former Trump adviser Roger Stone deserves a new trial in light of resurfaced tweets that indicate partisanship and "inherent bias" from a jury member against Stone. I think the president ought to listen to the attorney general. The president made a wise selection in picking Bill Barr.

Former Memphis City Schools Board President Tomeka Hart revealed Wednesday that she was the foreperson of the jury that convicted Stone on obstruction charges past year - and soon afterward, her history of Democratic activism and a string of her anti-Trump, left-wing social media posts came to light.

"The President has full faith and confidence in Attorney General Barr to do his job and uphold the law", White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said in a statement. The juror's husband also worked at the same Justice Department division that handled the criminal probe that led to Stone's arrest.

Trump remarked to reporters Wednesday that the prosecutors "hit the road pretty quickly" after Justice signaled it would cut their recommended sentence.

"The prosecutors had asked a U.S. District Court judge in Washington, D.C., to sentence Mr".

"The fact is that Roger Stone was treated horribly and so were many other people", Trump said.

He said of the prosecutors who resigned in protest: "I don't think they quit the case. Of course, if he ultimately pardons him, and he's left open that possibility, then he'll do him a real favor, but these tweets, I don't think, particularly help Roger Stone". She could give him anything in between or even a sentence above nine years. You have some of the most serious terrible rapists and everything else.

Gen. William Barr needs to be open about the chain of events when he testifies before the House Judiciary Committee next month.

Many Democrats have denounced the occasions that spread out, whilst even some Republicans have mentioned Trump will have to now not have made any public feedback about Stone's case.

Democrats decried the Justice Department's reversal on Stone and called for immediate investigations.

Barr has been a steady ally of the president's since he returned to the top post at the Justice Department previous year.

Trump Jr. went on to blast his father's ally for being "stupid" to lie.
